Sydney Ackermann (she/her), Osmond Lab

What do you study?  I use mathematical modelling to study the evolution of life cycles and cooperation among cells during the transition from unicellular to multicellular life.

What does this mean you do day to day?  It means I use math and coding to try to work out what is the optimal life cycle for maximising cooperation among cells in a multicellular organism.

When you aren’t on your computer coding, how do you spend your time? I love going on walks in nature, petting fluffy dogs, painting, knitting, and playing guitar.

Why did you take on this committee work?  I think graduate students helping fellow graduate students is a powerful thing.

How would I find you if I need to? You can send me a direct message on Slack or send me an email (sydney.ackermann@mail.utoronto.ca). Never hesitate to reach out! I love meeting new people and building community.
